LEARNING PODS

Learning Pods (formerly Pods in the Park and Virtual Pods) are short-term classes aimed to help children make new friends, have fun while learning, and build community. Spend a day with us to enjoy unique classes taught by our seasoned and caring Home School Coaches. Class locations vary and registration is required.

  • What services do you offer?
    Tutoring: We offer custom tutoring and classes in all core subjects plus a wide variety of enrichment subjects, including music, art, vocals, sewing, and robotics. See below for the full list of subjects we offer. Nearly all of our instructors are open to online lessons and, for Southern California families, many of our instructors also offer in-person lessons. Intervention: Focused instruction for students who are 2+ grade levels behind in math, reading, or writing. Our most experienced, trusted, and caring instructors help identify and fill gaps in your student's learning so they feel equipped for wherever their educational journey takes them. Pods Pods in the Park: Short-term outdoor classes aimed at helping K- 8 students have fun while learning, make new friends, play in the open air, and build community. Spend a day with us at a local park to enjoy unique classes taught by our seasoned and caring Home School Coaches instructors. Virtual Pods: Enjoy quality K-12 instruction and learning from the comfort of your home! Home School Coaches' Virtual Pods offer a variety of small-group, online classes. These classes run for between 2 and 16 weeks, and include a maximum of 12 students. Our small class sizes facilitate customized lessons with an emphasis on individual instruction. AdLife Academy Full-Week Program: The best of private schooling and homeschooling. Students attend classes Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in a safe and small school environment. Fun Fridays: Offer a variety of themed courses aimed at providing K-8 students with in-person instruction on various subjects. These courses run between 5 and 8 weeks, and are sure to incorporate fun, educational projects.

  • How do I get started with an instructor?
    Browse instructor by subject. Once you've found one who meets your needs, click on Request a Lesson to get started. You'll be able to select your preferred lesson day, time, and length. Then, you'll be guided through to make a payment with either a purchase order or a credit card. Our team will reach out to put you in contact with your selected instructor and will let you know when your purchase order has been received. If you're not sure where to start, simply text us (626) 872-1522 and we'll be happy to start a conversation to help provide custom recommendations based on your student's needs.
  • What if my instructor is not a good fit?
    We want to make sure that you’re matched with an instructor who can help your student excel. If you feel like your instructor is not a perfect match, simply call or text us at 626-872-1522 or email info@homeschoolcoaches.com. We will be happy to help you find the perfect instructor to transfer to.
  • Do you offer online lessons?
    Yes, the majority of any of our coaches offer online classes. You can view our complete list of coaches here. In addition, check out our Virtual Pods for small group, live classes.
  • Do you offer classes?
    Yes, we offer a wide assortment of classes! Check out Pods in the Park and Virtual Pods for a variety of fun classes in small group settings with some of our favorite instructors. Create your own pod. Choose an instructor and gather together your own group of students. If you have a subject in mind, but don’t know which instructor to work with, call or text us at (626) 872-1522 or email info@homeschoolcoaches.com. Attend a local co-op. We are partnered with multiple co-ops throughout the area. Click here for a list of the co-ops that we partner with.
  • Can my student take a class even though they are younger than the recommended age?
    Absolutely! We trust that you know your student’s abilities best and we’re happy to work with you to help your student soar. If for some reason a class doesn’t work out, we will be happy to help you find a class that will be a better fit.
  • Can we create a custom group class?
    Yes! Invite your student’s friends to create a group class with your favorite Home School Coaches instructor. This is a fun and affordable way for your student to study Spanish immersion, math, writing, sewing, and much more. After all participating students have registered, the fun can begin! For group classes, one parent serves as the official contact to facilitate communication between the group and the instructor. The parent contact also helps to reschedule or cancel classes. Make-up classes for an individual student’s absence in a group class are not available.
  • Are you a vendor of my charter school?
    Home School Coaches is a proud vendor of Aveson Charter School, Blue Ridge Academy, Compass Charter School, Citrus Springs, Elite Academy, Empire Springs, EPIC, Excel Academy, Golden Valley, Gorman, Granite Mountain School, Harbor Springs, Heartland, iLead Exploration, Innovations Learning Academy, Monarch River Academy, Ocean Grove, Pacific Springs, River Springs, Sage Oak, South Sutter, Sky Mountain, Suncoast Prep Academy and Yosemite Valley. If you don’t see your school listed here*, we would be happy to apply to become a vendor for them. Simply email us at info@homeschoolcoaches.com with the name of your school, and we’ll get started from there. *Unfortunately, we are unable to vendor with the following charter schools at this time: Cabrillo Point Academy, Pacific Coast Academy, Mission Vista Academy, and SCALE Academy.
  • Do you have a location?
    Our instructors can offer in-person lessons at your home or local library. We also offer in-person classes through Pods in the Park and our partnerships with multiple co-ops and businesses throughout Southern California. Let us know your location and what you’re looking for, and we’ll be happy to refer you to in-person classes.
  • Where do lessons take place?
    Instructors can meet you in your home, local library, coffee shop, co-op campus, park, or virtually anywhere that sustains a good learning environment. Some instructors also provide lessons at their studio. We ask that a parent or guardian stays nearby during the lesson in case of an emergency.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
    Cancellations for Tutoring If your student will be missing a tutoring session, please communicate this to your instructor by 6 p.m. the night before the session to reschedule. If your student misses a lesson or you cancel later than 6 p.m. the night before a lesson, you will be charged in full and will not be able to schedule a make-up lesson. Cancellation for Classes Please see the Pods in the Park and Virtual Pods FAQ pages for full details on class cancellations. Co-ops may set their own cancellation policies. Please contact your co-op instructor for their cancellation policy details.
  • Our family has a teacher that we love working with. Can they become a Home School Coaches instructor?
    We would be happy to consider adding your favorite teacher to our group of wonderful instructors! Please fill out our Refer an Instructor form and we’ll reach out to them to set up an interview.
  • Who are Home School Coaches' instructors?
    Our team includes credentialed teachers, veteran home school educators, and professionals teaching in their industry, which means that each of our instructors has many years of teaching experience. The well-being of your child is of the utmost importance to us, so we never hire strangers off of the internet. Every single instructor is referred to us by a trusted source, and is also vetted via a background check that includes a Department of Justice live scan.
  • I work full-time from home. Can you help me?
    Home School Coaches is here to support you. Our instructors can help implement your chosen curriculum, provide curriculum when needed, address special educational concerns you may have, and even serve as a Subject Guide to handle a whole semester of a core subject that is aligned with state standards.
  • I'd prefer to not teach certain subjects. Can you help me?
    Absolutely! We want you to be free to enjoy the best parts of homeschooling and cultivate positive relationships with your students. If you love teaching history and writing, but can pass on math and science, let us help. We work with instructors who are experienced in and passionate about their subject areas. Reach out to us at (626) 872-1522 and we’ll help you get set up with the tutoring and classes your student needs to thrive.
  • Do I have to be in California to work with your instructors?
    We are happy to serve students from any part of the country! Please note that the majority of our instructors are on PST time and that we are only able to accept purchase orders from California charter schools.
  • Do I have to homeschool to be able to use your services?
    We’re happy to serve students from all different schooling backgrounds! Our instructors also come from a variety of backgrounds - from credentialed public school teachers to veteran homeschooling moms.
