Debbie has extensive experience in both the musical and academic homeschool realms. She holds a Bachelor of Music in String Performance from California State University, Northridge, and was a homeschooling mom of four children for over ten years. In her spare time she enjoys cross stitching, egg dyeing, and backpacking. Musically, her background includes classical performance, fiddle, liturgical singing/playing, choral conducting, ear training, chamber coaching, a private studio with regular performances, and long-term membership in the Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra. Academically, Debbie teaches group classes in literary analysis for elementary and middle school students (yes, it’s possible!), Pysanky egg dyeing, cross-stitch, and is also a substitute teacher for the local public school district. In her ten years as a homeschool mom, customized diverse curricula for each of her four children in all subjects including navigating the IEP system. Debbie can offer multi-disciplinary tutoring sessions that might include violin or piano, ear training/singing/solfège followed by academic support in Singapore Math, or perhaps a hands-on science lesson you haven’t had time to get to, followed by an engaging picture book analysis. There are many possibilities to meet the individual needs of your student!
