Herbs for Tweens and Teens - PASADENA: Nov (Fri) Grades 5th-10th

Summary: Herbs for Teens and Tweens: Herbal Wisdom for Anxiety, Mood Swings, and Mental Clarity. In this hands-on course, we’ll discuss what we can do nutritionally, herbally and practically to maintain peace of mind and handle anxiety and mood swings when they strike. We’ll learn about some simple and safe herbs that can be used in teas, salves, and compresses that are calming and deeply nourishing. We’ll discuss the gut-brain connection and how what we eat, the stress we carry affect our ability to think clearly and maintain emotional balance. We’ll talk about the wonders of herbs and plant nutrition to help keep our hormones balanced. Each week, we’ll explore real herbs, experiment with a remedy, or prepare a food or drink that deeply nourishes and that contributes to our well being in body and mind.

About the Instructor

Amy majored in Economics and minored in French at the University of California, Berkeley. She later earned her K-8 teaching credential in California at CSU Hayward. She homeschooled two of her three children through eighth grade and one all the way through high school. She previously served as an instructor for high school math, French and health/herbal remedies at Ecclesia Classes and this is her fourth year tutoring with Home School Coaches. Before having children, Amy taught middle school math, language arts and social studies at both public and private schools for four years and carried her K-8 teaching credential in California. Amy’s three favorite subjects are Math, French, and Dance. She also loves running, herbal remedies, journaling, and gardening.

    Please review our Pods in the Park Policy information before purchasing. As a parent, you will be acknowledging the following statements:

    • I understand that in the event of inclement weather, I will be notified of the cancellation by 9AM via email. Your instructor will inform you if the class will be held online or postponed to another date.
    • I understand that there are not make-ups if my child is absent for a class.
    • I understand that Pods in the Park is NOT a drop-off program. Parents or guardians must stay on site for the entire duration of the class. Parents may inform the instructor if another parent or guardian will be overseeing their child in case they have to leave.
    • In the case that the Health Department sets mandates in regards to public meetings, we will update our policy to be in line with those mandates
