After graduating with double distinction on her thesis and a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College, she left her native California to teach in the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Argentina. From there she went to Europe to bask in English literature, Spanish and French. Back in Ventura county, she directed her third high school play at a local private school then left to study Education, Classical Languages, and French and Spanish on the east coast. Aside from her French studies at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, she was blessed to take summer courses in Paris at Accord, École de langues, and also at the prestigious L’Institute de Français in Villefranche-sur-mer, France. She also studied medieval Spanish literature and Mysticism at la Universidad Católica in Ávila, Spain. Eager to go to the root of so many languages, she obtained a Certificate of Graduate Proficiency in Greek and Latin from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC and during a sojourn in New Haven, CT, she attended classes on Medieval Latin and Early Church History at Yale. Mary relishes languages and the powerful connection with others that they enable. Mary has many years of teaching and tutoring experience. She worked with grades K through high school in Argentina, high school students in California, and taught 1st, 2nd, and 6th grades at a private school in Maryland. She also tutored undergraduates and graduates while studying at CUA, including tutoring a graduate student from Africa who was studying Latin, in French! As a home schooled student herself until she began college, she totally gets homeschoolers and appreciates the wonderful opportunities that arise from being homeschooled.
