After practicing law, Rachel decided to teach and tutor because it brings her much more joy. Rachel homeschooled her two girls for ten years, both of whom are twice-exceptional. Because of this, she has experience teaching children with learning disabilities and asynchronous development. She has continued to hone her ability to identify resources and activities that help all students. Rachel is familiar with the Orton-Gillingham approach and classic reading and spelling programs. She has worked with Saxon Math, Math-U-See, Rod and Staff and Common Core-aligned curricula. However, education is more than working through curriculum. Rachel believes a tutor needs to understand where a student genuinely needs support and offer tools that can be used to enhance learning well into the future. Rachel enjoys walking her two dogs, gardening, crocheting, puzzling, and playing games in her spare time.
